It's interesting, it's

It's interesting, it's usually the other way around. If I understand you well, you are religious and your parents aren't.

Anyway, I don't think atheism = not caring

Just do what you think is right.

Caring? About what, other

Caring? About what, other humans? Right and wrong? Could you be more specific?

Oh I see. I understand what

Oh I see. I understand what you mean, and he's got a point to an extent. I grew up for a time really hating religion because I saw the horrors it did, but you realise it's not all religion, and it's not all people. So I take the view that if it doesn't hurt anyone, or try to change the society to fit a very narrow worldview, I don't care. Obviously your own view has to be your own, but I believe freedom of belief is fundamental, but your belief cannot conflict with other's freedoms. So when I see theists try to block abortion (or worse, attack the clinics!) or try to ban gay marriage, I get furious. Because they are being incredibly selfish, and then I care. But if someone wants to believe in God in the comfort of their own home or a church (so long as it's not state-funded), I have no qualms. But that's just my outlook.

I know I'm going to be bu**

I know I'm going to be bu** raped for this, but why would any religion allow gay marriages? This institution is not theirs, why can't they find or create a different kind of social union for themselves?

I agree. Religion is a

I agree. Religion is a private establishment, they should be allowed to follow their won rules as long as they do not eclipse the law. Also, the law has no right to tell them what to do.

I'm not Christian at all, and I don't even believe in hetero marriage, lol. But it doesn't make sense to me why people would want to be part of a club that doesn't want them as members, so to speak. So long as they get the legal rights that come with marriage, or civil union, why would they care about who performs the ceremony?

An atheist has no reason to

An atheist has no reason to care. Atheism doesn't have any ideologies attached to it, it is just a statement of doubt. However, many atheists also identify themselves as humanists, which ultimately means they care that humanity survives and thrives.

So it is not a waste of time to care. Religion does have some bad effects on our society. Chief among those in my opinion is the lag time science must take in order to be generally accepted, or even legal in the case of stem cell research. Global Warming is also generally not accepted by religions, or those that proclaim to be religious, which could be slightly hazardous to our health.

Usualy I hear religious

Usualy I hear religious people asking atheists: ''Whay do you care at all'' ''Why even talk about it'' They don't understand (or like it) and say things like: I don't believe in Santa, but I don't go around telling people there's no Santa.

There are many reasons, general and personal, but I've never heard atheist asking this kind of question.More over, You're not asking others, what/ why do they care....you're asking others to tell you, why should You care ??? If you care - You should know why......If you don't care - don't

He was asking a good question

He was asking a good question...I mean your Dad. Why caring about the religious and their religion if u've decided not to have anything to do with it and them? If you care, then you feel there is a thing missing in your life and you wanna take back from religion. You might well give it a chance to stay.

Caring about what? About your

Caring about what? About your father and other family members being atheists? If yes, then you should not care about that. If being an atheist is their own choice, let them be. You could live harmoniously even if you have different beliefs. A problem will only arise if you would try to change their beliefs and vise versa. So, why bother?

I navigated the intricate web

I navigated the intricate web of online resources, I serendipitously discovered a website residency personal statement that proved to be a beacon of scholarly guidance. It was a virtual haven where the symphony of intellect and craftsmanship echoed through the virtual corridors. Within its digital embrace, a collective of seasoned essayists awaited, equipped with the prowess to breathe life into my ideas and transform them into persuasive, thought-provoking essays. With their meticulous attention to detail, astute analysis, and eloquent prose, my essays flourished, transcending the realm of mere academic exercises and becoming powerful vehicles of intellectual exploration.
