1993 movie ... I started to think of older “futuristic” movies that “nailed it”
The TP situation started it (anyone release shells yet)...then the social distancing (sex)...then the fining of language (I fuckin’ couldn’t afford to live) ...then the technology. Oh, and the Corp. wars - this movie is a gold nugget.
I just love watching how “Idocracy” 2006 is evolving.

I find precocious children annoying in the extreme.I sometimes have the urge to do one or both of its parents an injury.

Yea Whitefire 13, it seems every second day I now hear something in the news and my mind jumps to "Idiocracy". It is both amusing and scary.
One "futuristic" movie worth thinking about is "Falling Down", starring Michael Douglas. It is about a guy who reaches the end of his rope, his wife leaves him, he loses his job, his car breaks down on the freeway. He snaps and wanders through a series of tales involving gang violence, racism, bigotry, angst against the government, the ills many currently suffer chronically.
David ...watched that movie Falling Down years ago. It was good, can’t remember it well, but I remember I liked it.

I like dystopian films.
The first "Planet Of The Apes" were terrific. So too"Omega Man:" ( the second filmed version of 'I am Legend') Soylent Green was scary. 'Logan's Run', more cheesy fun than serious. Sobering to realise the gorgeous Jenny Agutter is now an old lady***, playing head nun in "Call The Midwife"
--and of course 'Mad Max' . Called :"The Road Warrior" outside of Oz , I think.
More recent chilling offerings include: "The Road" and" The Book Of Eli"

Read the book before I ever saw the movie. Was very disappointed with the movie. As usual, Hollywood had to go screw up another good story in the interest of profits.
It's not a movie (yet), but the book "One Second After" (William R. Forstchen) offers a realistic and thought-provoking look at what society would become in the event of an EMP attack across the US and other countries. Highly recommend it for those with an interest in surviving during some form of societal infrastructure collapse.

War of The Worlds (with Tom Cruise) 'The Day After", US TV show about a nuclear attack and (?) interesting US TV series "Jericho"
One that echoes gloomily in the present situation is "Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston as the last survivor of a global pandemic triggered by biological weapons.
Chuck started in Exodus and evolved through the gospels to the apocalypse. Then in his dotage he became Dame Edna's houseboy and NRA leader.

For all that I gather Chuck was pretty much a straight shooter. (ahem)
I watched in horror as Michael Moore ambushed Heston when the man was clearly demented. I had already concluded Moore is an odiferous little toe rag, who gave documentaries an even worse name [with me] than they already had. That encounter simply verified my opinion.
I’ve seen almost all the movies mentioned (love this genre)...
Gattaca is another one I love (I’ve watched about 3 times) and The Island
