"Men think epilepsy divine, merely because they do not understand it. We will one day understand what causes it, and then cease to call it divine. And so it is with everything in the universe."

My, how the world has changed :) Just imagine how foolish we today will look after we've gotten comfortable with the newly discovered truths of science and have moved on to even more complicated things!
Thinking was very different long ago and as times progress, we as a people should also progress. It almost seems as if our progression as a society has slowed down as our technological progression has ramped up. You would think with the advent of modern technology, we would become far more advanced as a people.
The next time I have a severe headache I think I will describe it as borderline divine, but boy that Hippocrates guy sure could call the future! Funny thing is, I have seen some so called possessed by the holy spirit people and thought should I call 911 they look like they are having a seizure. I guess this means some people still haven't caught on or perhaps some seizures are divine LOL.
He really did call that one. It makes me think of how very recently we used to look at ADHD and other disorders and think nothing of them.
But ADHD isn't real, it's just a kid being a brat and an adult being lazy. It is a compelling thought that Hippocrates called that so long ago and it must have looked very strange to the culture back in those days. It's like when you see volcanic lightning for the first time, it looks almost as is there really is a Hell and it's unleashing itself on the world. Even by today's standards, it's quite scary.
No, ADHD is a kid over stimulated by modern technology and then required to learn and regurgitate unimaginative information which is unimportant and irrelevant to the child. So then the child is anesthetized for profit. I bet Hippocrates didn't see that coming.
