Christians claim that Allah is Satan.
There are books out there about this:
Islam is of the Devil - Terry Jones
Satan's Biggest Lie: Islam - Michael J. Oldham
Islam and the Soldiers of Satan - Evang. Promise Baker
The reason they give is that he is a deceiver and he commands his worshipers to do bad things.
One example is happening now: He commands them to be in full fasting from dawn to sunset for a hole Lunar month (which just started) every year. They must not have anything enter their bodies, not even water, during daytime, regardless of how long it is or how hot it is. This can cause harmful dehydration.
"Do you want to guide those whom Allah has led astray? Whomever Allah leads astray—you will never find for him a way." 4:88

Ahhh...the great “opposer” (at its most basic).
Christians are hardly the only religious folks who commonly explain other world views as evil. Muslims do it quite commonly.
Tom
And that exchange of attacks is a major factor in the awakening of their followers, as it shows them the flaws of their own religions.
Muhammad never proved he spoke to Gabriel , he was in a cave by himself, how is that proof of your Allah?
Are you talking to me? I don't have an "Allah".
@Columbus
Indeed.
Christian also do, in effect, by claiming the world is full of temptation that the afterlife is better. However, they have never been able to explain the existence of evil and suffering.
More interesting I think is that Zoroastrians also believe the world is evil. That existence is a duality of good and evil.
I say 'interesting' because Zoroastrianism is still practiced in India.. Had Christianity not elbowed itself in, Zoroastrianism could have become a major world religion. Its moral code is very similar to Christianity and its theology makes a lot more sense. It has been suggested that its beliefs may have influenced Judaism*** and other belief systems
In any case, I recommend having a glance at the wiki link below .

** I treat that claim with caution. The major world religions share a similar moral codes and myths. That correlation does not in itself prove a causal relationship.
Similar moral teachings arose at about the same time in different parts of the world. EG The early greek philosophers, the Buddha in India and Master Kung ( Confucius) in China.

Zoroastrianism or Mazdayasna is one of the world's oldest continuously practiced religions. It is a multi-tendency faith centered on a dualistic cosmology of good and evil and an eschatology predicting the ultimate conquest of evil with theological elements of henotheism, monotheism/monism, and polytheism.[1][2][3][4] Ascribed to the teachings of the Iranian-speaking spiritual leader Zoroaster (also known as Zarathushtra),[5] it exalts an uncreated and benevolent deity of wisdom, Ahura Mazda (Wise Lord), as its supreme being.[6] Major features of Zoroastrianism, such as messianism, judgment after death, heaven and hell, and free will may have influenced other religious and philosophical systems, including Second Temple Judaism, Gnosticism, Greek philosophy,[7] Christianity, Islam,[8] the Bahá'í Faith, and Buddhism.[9]

I edited to add this:
Quran says:
"Do you want to guide those whom Allah has led astray? Whomever Allah leads astray—you will never find for him a way."
I'm struggling to spot the actual point of this thread? Superstitious people making wild bizarre claims is hardly news to most atheists, and certainly not limited to the christian religion.
Heh.... what's the point of our existence?
This thread is just to express thoughts that I came across.
Might not be interesting to everyone.
@onceonly
"Heh.... what's the point of our existence?'
From whence did you get the quaint idea that there needs to be a point?
IF I get pinned down,I will opine that the reason for life is itself . I don't mean the simplistic view of billions of individual egos but 'life' in its staggering variety.
@Existence has a point? Who said so and how do you know?
I was replying to Sheldon when he said he didn't get "the actual point of this thread",
to argue that if existence must not have a point, then my post doesn't have to.
@onceonly: "This thread has a point? Not from anything you have said. Where is this point you speak of?"
@Cog Re: "Existence has a point?"
You ain't too bright, are you? Of COURSE existence has a point. That's what keeps it from being dull. Duh!...
Heh.... what's the point of our existence?
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!
Onceonly...” Allah has led astray? ”
Sounds about “right”. Christian god does the same thing ... Matt 24:24 “ For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.”
HOWEVER ... 2 Thess 2:11 “ And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”
These man made gods have fun lying :)
A big part of the Quran was a translation from a Hebrew version of the Bible.
@Onceonly... re:big part of Quran from Hebrew Scriptures
I’m not versed in the Quran, but this doesn’t surprise me. It would need the same “base”. The Christian Greek refer to the Hebrew texts also. Most likely to “establish” authenticity.
Christians say anyone who disagrees with them is under the influence of Satan. Islam is a copy of Christianity and says the exact same thing. Seriously - What is your point?
The curse of Allah is on disbelievers. 2:89
Jews are the greediest of all humankind. They'd like to live 1000 years. But even that "would by no means remove the doom." 2:96
They who disbelieve, and deny Our revelations, such are rightful Peoples of the Fire. They will abide therein." 2:39
Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers. 2:98
The Jews and Christians know damn well that the Muslims are right, so they try to make Muslims disbelievers because they envy the truth that they know the Muslims have. 2:109
Allah will make disbelievers' lives miserable in this world and torture them forever after they die. 2:114
FUCK ISLAM!

"There are books out there about this:"
---and your point is? That a book has been printed means nothing in itself about veracity of the contents
Books have been written by christians and others demonising Islam for centuries. The latest one I can think of which was given credence by the hoi polloi is 'God Is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens. I have read it. In my opinion the book is an ignorant and bigoted polemic.
Christians have invented a great deal about the figure of the devil/satan/Lucifer . Their invention includes the existence of an eternal hell which Does not exist Judaism, the basis for both Christianity and Islam. On reading the Quran, a person familiar with the Old Testament will be surprised at how much of it has been lifted from the Torah .
The Christian concept of Satan is opposite to the Jewish perception. I quote in some depth below:
"Jewish View
He (Satan) is clearly subordinate to God, a member of His suite (Heb. Bene ha-elokim), who is unable to act without his permission. Nowhere is he in any sense a rival of God. The Encyclopedia Judaica The Christian claim that it was Satan who created evil is utterly fraudulent according to our Tanach: I (God) form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7 God creates all things, not simply good things. There isn't a single verse in the entire Tanach that states that Satan ever created evil or ever disobeyed a command from God. Satan is an obedient servant of God in the Tanach who serves the role of man's accuser in God's court.
Creation of Temptation
God created the temptation to do evil partially to test our loyalty, and partially to improve us. That is why the word (Satan- שטן) in Hebrew literally means an adversary (Numbers 22:22) that comes to challenge us. We find this notion throughout the Book of Job, where God gives permission to the Satan to challenge the righteous Job. In fact, one of the most dramatic and powerful expressions of man’s struggle with God and his conscience involves Job and Satan. God had given Satan permission to afflict Job with all manner of hardships and misfortune. In turn, Job loses his family and possessions, and is stricken with boils and disease. As he sits in sheer agony, his close colleagues remark, “Your piety is your foolishness.” Even his wife chews him out, saying, "Are you still holding fast to your integrity? Curse God, and die." But Job tells them, "You speak as one who is despicable. Should we accept only the good from God and not also accept the evil?”(Job 2:9‑10)
Conclusion
It is the mission of every conscientious person to overcome temptations and do what is correct. The Torah itself (Genesis 4:7) teaches that is a mission within our grasp to fulfill. There is nothing to fear from the temptations of the Satan when one is focused on Godliness and self-improvement."

Thank you cranky47 for the informative post.
I don't really have a point. Just wanted to share this thought that came to me with the occasion of Ramadan.
So, Islam is closer to Judaism than it is to Christianity.
Perhaps all that enmity and resentment between the Muslims & the Jews is because of competition for supremacy using the same method.
Onceonly ...” perhaps all that enmity and resentment between the Muslims & the Jews is because of competition”
Perhaps. But then you’ll get the same enmity and resentment between Muslims (Sunni Shia) and between Jews (Haredi Masorti). And then once they’re in their “groups” they’ll find something to bitch about to further isolate.
In my opinion it’s just various levels of tribalism.
@onceonly
"Perhaps all that enmity and resentment between the Muslims & the Jews is because of competition for supremacy using the same method."
The enmity between Jews and Arabs predates Islam and I think monotheistic Judaism. Originally, the people who became the Jews and the Arab peoples were two competing sets of nomadic semitic peoples. ( Hebrew and Arabic are both semitic languages)
An explanation for the enmity between the two brothers is given in the book of Genesis :
The prophet Abraham had two sons. The elder was from Hagar, his Egyptian slave/hand maiden/ wife and gift from Pharaoh. His name was Ishmael. The younger son was from Abraham's wife, Sara. His name was was Isaac.
Fearing for her son's inheritance, Sara convinced Abraham to cast out (send away) Hagar and Ishmael.
Ishmael became the father of the people who became the Arabs .Isaac became the father of the people who became the Jews .So yair, Jews and Arab Muslims are literally brothers according to the Torah. It is also written that the enmity between Ishmael and Isaac was resolved on the death of their father. The truce didn't take.
Worth noting that there are a several different theories about Hagar; Eg that she was Abraham's wife not his slave, that and even that Hagar identified with Isis.
My opinion: don't know if any of it is true. The Torah is is the mythology of the Jews, so claims can get very creative. However, there is no actual proof for any of the claims , not even the one outlined.
Allah is Santa?.... *scratching head in confusion*... How could anybody make that mistake? I mean, sure, Allah had a flying horse, but how could that possibly be mistaken for eight tiny flying reindeer pulling a big-ass red sled across the sky with Santa at the reins??? Plus, I never heard of Allah bringing a bunch of presents to kids all over the world. Only Santa does that, right? Really, this whole thing just seems rather silly to me... *reading OP again*... Aw, shit. Nevermind. Disregard everything I just said.... *hurriedly exiting room*...
Who cares, both are as real as a neon donkey, shooting lasers from its arsehole, that also orbits venus and caused its runaway greenhouse effect.

And yet... I'm still intrigued!
However, I would prefer an image where we strap him to a rocket and fire him toward the sun, to see what his melting point is...
Purely scientific research of course...
