I had to think about that for a second but its true if a relgion gains any control of government it would then inevitably apply its beliefs to the rules that govern people beneath its government. Thus the religion through the government and thus the government would then restrict the beliefs of those who have differing beliefs and thereby destroy their freedom of religion. Come to think about people here in the US because of this have not had real and true freedom of religion in this country for a long time. Ever since the door was cracked and the term God was allowed to enter the government here freedom of religion had been on the decline. And every religion that professes their won concept of God to exist has then since believed that country was founded and built by by faith in their (one true?) God.
Question for theist: What if one day you woke up and realized the religion with the most control of government who professed to belief in God as they saw it had a different opinion of God and Gods rules then you did what it you woke up a catholic with a Mormon, Evengical, or Baptist country what if the rules they started to create effected your religious freedom, what if they made you say their prayers which were in direct opposition with your beliefs? What if a religion that did not believe in Jesus took over but did believe in god and they made it against the rule to talk about Jesus but completely Ok to talk about God. What if they changed it to say in Allah We trust or in Yahweh We Trust. what if even though it was against your faith they made you read and quote scripture every day from the Quran or some other holy text?
I'll tell you what it would be like it would be like being an atheist who is forced to make the Pledge of Allegiance or spend money with reference to God on it, to go to court and be told to swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God. which is in a way an acknowledgement of a god we don't believe in. it would be sacrilegious for you to say the same with God substituted with Zues or Odin.
