I think this is true. The Hebrew word god (el and it's variations) comes from a root word meaning "mighty; strong." A God isn't necessarily supernatural, it can be anything, from a simple pile of stones, stone and wood carvings, people, games, music, art, literature - anything. This is why the term atheist by definition has always seemed to have missed the point.
