Say what you will about the sweet miracle of unquestioning faith, I consider a capacity for it terrifying and absolutely vile.

I am naturally a skeptic, I guess I always have been. Even so, its hard to find hard to find fault with this statement made by Kurt Vonnegut
Unquestioning faith has got to be potentially one of the most terrifying and vile things I can imagine. One has to ask how someone can be so dumb as to not ask questions and to believe in something without question and to follow something without question in this day in age this alone is terrifying and vile. But what can potentially be done to or with people who have unquestioning faith is utterly terrifying and vile. And to top it off, religions teach us that this is a miracle and it is a beautiful thing.
How can a person of any intelligence develop such a lapse in judgement that they decide unquestioning faith is a good thing? Where does this notion that it is good thing come form? I have met intelligent people who are religious and supposedly have this unquestioning faith and these people make me question their motives more than the validity of their gods.
I can agree on one thing with these people though unquestioning faith is a miracle, after all, how else would intelligent people set aside so much of their brainpower and submit to such a ridiculous notion.
