I have read a lot of ironic and cruel statements on this forum. There are theists who judge the atheists while there are even more atheists who judge the few theists on this community. Sort of statement such as dumb, fools, etc., are not good for me. I know that everyone is trying to debate friendly but still some can’t just stop expressing their opinions extravagantly. Why judge people just because of his/her belief, it’s quite not fair, right?

"there are even more atheists who judge the few theists on this community"
It's an atheist community; hence the "few theists."
What do you think happens when an atheist posts in a Christian community? I assure you that the responses are far less tolerant.
Atheists don't have a problem judging, yet they don't want to be judged if it is according to God's word, in which real Christians judge by. And it is not wrong, for we all will be judged by God's word one day.
Agreed mysticrose. It is unnesseccary to judge a person in a debate on atheist/theism and it often undermines the point one intended to make.
For example-"Atheists don't have a problem judging, yet they don't want to be judged if it is according to God's word,"
We are free to judge whoever we want and how we want. That is the basis of freedom of speech.
What I think you mean is, are we free to offend or insult just because of our beliefs?
No, we are not unless we support our accusation with evidence or logic.
However my answer to that is depends, because usually we judge the beliefs not the person.
Though if you say something like;
believing that critical thinking is bad for you or a sin, do you blame me if I call you stupid?
May I remind you that critical thinking is what got us out of slavery, and what pulled and pressured the religions to finally adopt the same philosophy.(it wasn't easy because religions are dogmatic, thus a lot had to die for it to happen)
I should have included this in my post.
Christians know we are judged by God through His word, or by conviction, and we're good with that because He is guiding us as a Father that loves us.
When an Atheist judge's us it's usually in a persecution kinda way. That's ok also because as Jesus said
Matthew 5:10-12 KJV
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [11] Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you , and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [12] Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
So keep it up for we know we are doing right by the Lord.
In the United States atheists are the most despised and distrusted minority in America. In fact, Americans are more biased and prejudiced against atheists than any other group. Do not think this is a subjective perception of atheists; it's a fact that is strengthened by every study done on the subject. The reasons given for this intolerance are diverse, but they are all also usually wrong in their depiction of atheists. Atheists are thus hated more for what people attribute to them than for what they really are. Again and again atheists are subjected to a lot of verbal bullying if they are open about what they believe. To make matters worse, the Christian majority fails to follow the teachings they claim to follow:
"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Matthew 7:3 NSB
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. ESV Matthew 7:12
You’re in the minority here and have the opportunity to experience just a fraction of what we experience: unfair job discrimination, property damage and social stigma etc. You’re frustrated because those weapons are not available to you here to keep us quiet. So expect the resentment/attitude to be gauged by the country one comes from. The smaller the percentage of atheists in a population, the higher the resentment. Don't worry about keeping it up, eventually America's ratio will be closer to Sweden's. The internet does not allow theist's to block information as effectively as they once did. The truth will set people free from imaginary despots. Bring it on : )
I noticed that members who used foul word were banned in this forum no matter how great and intellectual their posts are and that's a good thing. thanks for the moderators. A debate room need not to be a fighting zone with the use of offending words. Anything can be explained intellectually and professionally without using bad words to other party.
What you consider foul language has never been grounds for getting banned in AR.
