No, this is kind of a dark topic, but I had to bring it up. Suicide, or self-murder, as Christians call it, is a sin that will send you straight to hell. I was watching Imagine Dragons- I bet my life, and one of the comment chains was that people who commit suicide should burn in hell. But then one of the Christians said "We all go through the same suffering, and suicide is a sin." We don't all go through the SAME suffering. That's like saying we're all the exact same. And some people (atheists, maybe some Christians who don't read the bible) said that we should try to help depressed people and lift them up and a Christian said "No. If they want to kill themselves, let them. They don't deserve to live. Any thoughts on this? And if you are a Christian and are arguing that Suicide isn't a sin, look at Deuteronomy 30:9-20:
"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life..."
Notice how it says specifically: Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Which means choose life, and the previous sentence states the choosing of this determines "blessings and curses." Doesn't sound like suicide is a favorable option to me. What are your thoughts on this? Any comments? Any Christians out there?

It is right to help and encourage a depress person but if he still decided to end his life, then it's his choice, his freedom. No one can judge him for what he did because he did not hurt anyone else.
As an armed service member, I've witnessed too many suicides. It's a sad fact that behind combat fatalities, suicide is the next leading cause of death for men and women in uniform.
As even I've danced with depression, some of what I'll say isn't just regurgitated ideas, but personal feelings and experience. But do support people if you can spot or find someone struggling like that. Support isn't just support. Support is part of the cure. If you can, be supportive but also convince them to seek help. Ultimately it is their choice, but I've seen a number of would be tragedies thwarted by people reaching out to change their minds. And do it for all people. Suicide is not strictly an atheist thing, or a religious thing. It's kinda a human thing.
We all struggle to various degrees.
Ditto. And as a marine, you probably know that suicide has surpassed combat fatalities, and did so even during combat operation. One of my companies suffered no combat fatalities in Iraq and one suicide, she was catholic.
"Suicide, or self-murder, as Christians call it, is a sin that will send you straight to hell."
Actually, from christian theology and trying to be a bit apologetic, there are ways how you can commit suicide and not go to hell.
But most Christians do not know their religion.
Jesus came to save sinners right?
So all they need is, to commit suicide (let say; jump off a plane) and before they 'land' they accept and believe in Jesus, thus their sins are automatically scapegoated to Jesus and since they cannot get back on the plane again it becomes inevitable.
That way they can land in paradise safely after hitting rock bottom.
Perfect loop hole.
It is funny how whatever the sin you make Jesus always comes in to save the day.
Why bother with rules and regulations for sins?
But they need you to feel guilty else they would have no control over you.
A guilty person, does not rebel, does not question the better/right person. he must wish and ask for forgiveness.
Thus it is very easy to convince a guilty person of the most stupid and unbelievable things like:
Virgin birth
walking on water
rise from the dead
zombie invasion of Jerusalem
etc....
Once you get someone to wish something, you can get him to do anything, even suicide.
Like suicide bombers Islam produces for some radicals..
