Statues are easy targets . A bit pointless if the ideas behind them don't change. I have a problem with destroying statues because a bunch of people are offended by them. Ideas and attitudes are not so easily destroyed, nor am I convinced they should be.
I do not support the suppression or destruction of distasteful or hurtful ideas. In my opinion, free speech must include the right to offend. Australia currently has anti hate speech laws. I do not support such laws.

Just a tongue-in-cheek suggestion really. I got annoyed at the loons threatening Churchill's statue and the hoons purporting to defend it. Churchill was a bastard. But his statue commemorates what he achieved in a very dark time in history, not who he was throughout his life. Probably the worst war criminal celebrated in a statue in London is Boudicca.

The ones written there weren’t “god’s” (LOL ...sorta a monument to early tribal discovery of morality) ... look at it this way - “reclaim them” (however I still don’t feel a need to reclaim “spirituality” so its up to you) ... the Christians and Jews are already breaking the first laws “in that fucking monument) BECAUSE they originated from another god’s tribe.
Perhaps 100 years (if we drop the Jesus is coming soon and atheist Muslims start “coming out” and Jews openly eat bacon and ham....) OK...
1000 years from now, maybe that monument will be there with a little hologram explaining its origin and “moral history”, appreciated for the little part it played, BUT mostly as a reminder of how far “humanity has come”...
