I appreciate you're having asked this question, because it's exactly what I just Googled to get here. I'm reading some helpful stuff here.
There's no way someone went to hell and back to tell us what it looks like. I may have a gold coin for Charon to take me across the river, but I dont have his cell number to call and say "hey dude come get me" Neither does anyone else. I say all this to point out that hell is all in our imaginations. As children we all imagined things and have eventually outgrown them. This is something that we can all outgrow with time and common sense.
On the bright side, if it's a real place... well at least we wont need to bring a jacket ;)
No suggestions. You're still superstitious regardless of your stance on religion. No one can help you with that. I think that's the basis for atheism. Those who subscribe to it are not superstitious. It's something manifest in your personality and can't be learned or otherwise possessed.

Begin a study of religious folly and biblical silliness by seeking out some excellent books on the subject. In about a year or two the terrors of hell will fade away as the light of your knowledge increases, and they will go the way of those midnight monsters that spook little children. You could start with Dan Barker's "Losing Faith in Faith."
