Hi there! First let me say that I am not Atheist, however, I am interested in learning about it. I go to a Christian university in PA and am taking a theology course. One of my assignments is to interview someone of the opposite gender, a different race, and a different religious view from my own. To do this assignment correctly, I would need to interview a male who is not Caucasian. I have many friends who are Atheist but I haven't been in contact with them since high school.
I am not asking to have a conversation with someone to convert them; I'm genuinely interested and am willing to learn, as well as discuss Atheism with someone. I would really appreciate someone to reply to this post and help me with this assignment!
Thank you so much and I hope you have a fantastic day :) You're all wonderful people!

Hello. I can discuss atheism but you may find me very boring.
Thank you so much! I'm sure I won't find you boring at all :) Just for the sake of doing my assignment per the requirements, are you a male that is not white?
No.
1st of all, theology is really mythology. Secondly, your assignment seems a bit sophmoric. What good is an interview without real investigation. Opposite gender,....so what? Different race...so what? Different religious view...so what? What do you hope to gain? You won't gain a perspective without comprehensive investigation. Let's say you interview an atheist. Unless you know the history and the motivations, unless you know the pressures and influences, you won't get anything but pat answers that tell you nothing.
Most theist believe that people become atheist because of some traumatic experiences with religion, like being molested by a priest. In fact, that is hardly ever the case.You must also have a good starting point. Everyone is born an atheist. You have to be indoctrinated (brainwashed) into a religious belief.
I really don't understand why theist are so obsessed with atheist.
Your assignment is an example of why minorities are so upset with white people. It is a token effort of understanding that produces nothing. If you want to learn about someone that is different than you, you need to live their life, not just have them answer a few preconditioned predetermined questions.
So I say go away or get real. People like you just piss me off.
Holly, to say that most theists believe people become atheists through tramatic experiences with religion is absolute nonsense. Whe someone talks using generalizations like that, you're probably talking to a very narrow minded individual. Also, he said we are born atheists. Wow. No, we are born nothing, empty canvases. We develop veiws and beliefs over the course of our lives based on many things. The same way you put your faith in God, this fellow here puts his faith somewhere else, probably scientific theory.
@ibw
NO, I put my belief in proven facts. Narrow mindedness is a mind that believes something not proven but accepts it because are brainwashed from birth. The fact is theist do believe that most atheist become atheist because of a traumatic event. Every single person that asked why I am an atheist thought that I must have had a traumatic experience and was hiding it. Now that may be a small survey but it is a legitimate one.
BTW science is born out of fact, belief in a god is born out of a myth.
Unless you were somehow born with a belief in god, you were born an atheist. If you were born with a belief in god, then so much for your empty canvas statement.
And don't bother trying to argue the definition of the word, I'm pretty sure most everyone here is tired of that sad old semantics argument.
Hello. I could answer some of your questions for you if you would like. I guess I do fit your criteria.
I would really appreciate your help! Is there an email where I can contact you??
It takes a certain amount of arrogance to discount the understanding of the word atheist. If you want to place labels on something that contains nothing to fit into it your specific mold of a definition, go for it. instead of argueing it, id rather point out the complete lack of value it has in an arguement. Its the equivalent to pointing out that babies dont beleive anything. You were born without the belief that the universe was created through the big bang, does this destroy its validity in your eyes. You arguing strategy is nothing more than confusion. Are you willing though to admit that your positions include faith. The really tired sentament, that actually means something, is that atheists talk about faith like they dont use it.
@ibw
How idiotic.
1) atheist is a label made up people that made up a god.
2) Understanding the universe isn't like believing in a god, which is what YOU are trying to equate it to.
3) The only one "confused" here is you.
@ lbw
Are you willing revise your own opinion of what atheism is? Because you have clearly not understood it. Many do misunderstand, it's even common among atheists themselves.
Just to point this out, I'm simply doing this as an assignment. You are correct in the fact that babies don't have a faith as they are born. Even as a Christian, I acknowledge that faith (in anything for that matter) is learned to believe in. The point of the assignment I have is not to argue what is right and what is wrong; it's to gain another person's perspective and their beliefs or lack thereof.
Good for you Holly! I'd love to help you but I don't meet all the criteria (I'm Caucasian).
/e I would recommend private messaging Charvak; but our private message system is kind of hard to navigate at first. Try messaging him under the name: samirbagasrawala; that might work.
Greetings to everybody! To tell you the truth, essay writing has never been my strongest suit. I kind of dreaded handing in the assignment I wrote. I also had an essay on atheism at my Faculty of Theology and had problems with writing because I had no idea what to write about Atheism. Fortunately, I found a service that helps with writing on different topics and then I sent it to affordable paper for help improvement, and they nailed it. My professor was over the moon. A great place to purchase a unique paper from.
