This theory has always been sort of fascinating to many people. The idea that some people are born wiser than others being due to their souls having been reborn many more times than others. While a more logical explanation would suggest that this happens because they carry their genetic traits inside their dna. If you come from smart people, you will probably be very smart yourself. Both parents must be above average in their intelect in order to ensure their children are also blessed with great genes.

Very interesting and also possible as far as the many theories out there, this is probably one of the most solid.
I think people do carry all the skills from their ancesters. It could very well be the "soul" that humans have, but all animals probably have it too.
This simply sounds like the passing on of genetic traits to me which is completely true. To then attribute that to something supernatural like souls is an unnecessary (and probably false) embellishment.
Why there are people whose both parents are smart yet they are of low intellect level? How about people who can easily understand a language far from their mother language?
I think everything is passed to other generations but some people are able to develop their memory on different skill sets their parents or grandparents had and they never reactivate others. A lot of what is passed on to us gets lost inside our minds.
It's true. Our brains actually have the capacity to store more bits of information than our central hub can reasonably access on demand - it's a puzzle to understand why :)
The attributes of any given person are a mixture of genetically influenced traits and environmentally influenced traits. The reason that you don't look like a perfect 50-50 mix of your two parents, and why identical twins aren't perfectly identical, is because outside factors greatly influence your growth and behavior. Genes may make you more likely to be clever, for instance, but if you do not grow in an environment that allows you to develop mentally, then you can't guarantee anything.
Genetic traits are easily transferable from parents to their offspring,in most cases offspring from a very intelligent parent are mostly intelligent but it doesn't happen always, maybe 90%.
While genes are not the sole determinant of our manifestation in life, people really underplay their importance. True, if you are born of two highly intelligent people, you will most likely have the ability to develop higher intelligence than those born of... what's the nicest way to say it... average people.
The environment also plays a role. Odds are that if you're born of two highly intelligent people, you will also be raised by these intelligent people, who have used their wit to procure many of the things necessary to create an environment that will foster the development of your potential intelligence, and hopefully these two people are smart enough to allow their offspring insight into the process of procurement so that these little genetic wildcards will grow up to be more suited to the environment in which they were raised than the parents who created it for them.
Really, it's the environment that makes the genes look good. But don't forget that genes have a big hand in controlling the environment as well.
I agree with you have said here Sammy, genes contribute to an extent but environment is also a major contributor, yes genes can contribute to an environment but smart people can still do stupid things and have babies with for example fetal alcohol syndrome or raise their kid in hostile environments that contribute to their outlook on life I would go so far as to say say environment is a larger factor than genes. I would also say as you did smarter people are probably more likely to provide an environment in which to raise kids with of higher intellect.
Lmao, smart people do stupid things all the time :) As a matter of fact, I will venture to say that the smarter the people, the stupider the mistakes they can pull off!
A stupid person might make a mistake and raise an overaggressive guard dog that terrorizes the neighborhood. A smart person, doing a stupid thing, will cross breed two benign species of insects and inadvertently unleash killer bees on an entire continent.
I'm way more afraid of smart people doing stupid things than I am of stupid people in general.
I know so may cases of outstanding people who came from broken homes and also terribly bad people that came from great environments. I guess it can also be atributed to wanting to be better no matter what.
Perhaps our soul is a part of our DNA, or, at the very least, it is our consciousness and maybe that is why some of us know more than others right from the start.
If old souls is part of our DNA then reincarnation is true. I am really amazed with people who can recall about their past lives and how they were able to have some characteristics from there past life and experiences.
Yes I find the concept interesting it may even be possible but just like with god I have no proof and as many people say I will see when I die. However, if someone could give me proof beyond what a psychic says or their own recollection of past lives I would be interested.
There are some who testified that they remember their past lives and that they really believe that reincarnation is real but their testimonies are not enough for this skeptic world to believe. There are also shamans who said that they can see past lives by means of astral travel and deep meditation but most people won't believe them too.
I don't really believe in reincarnation, but it's not like things do or do not exist based on whether or not *I* believe them, lol. I do think some people are more plugged in to the goings on of time and space than others. Just a more observant and receptive attitude, on the deepest level possible.
I recently saw The Search for Bridie Murphy - it's a really interesting case, if you read about it.

I was told by an intuitive a few months ago that I am an old soul and lived as a Grecian, Egyptian and Indian person. I am not any of these nationalities, BTW. She said I had lived as a woman most of my past lives and as a man at least once. Old Souls are usually very chill and easy going. They are compassionate and very kind to people. They usually don't come into their own until their mid 30s and usually have a challenging live filled with many trials and tribulations, more than most. They are evolved on an emotional and spiritual level and do not want to creat bad karma with most people which is why they are sweet to people as often as possible.

How does one qualify as "an intuitive?"
The idea of reincarnation or old souls is really interesting for me. There are movies that are really worth watching regarding reincarnation and it can be consider as one of the life's wonder or mystery.
