Take this job and shove it. I ain't workin' here no more.
A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
You can add another wood/would:
...if a woodchuck ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d would chuck wood.
If you are going to teach someone freethinking, it would probably be wrong to teach them to be an atheist. (If you mean atheist in the sense of secular, then OK).
In a pure form, if you teach freethinking, it is not freethinking.
OUCH! That hurt my brain!
@Cog Re: "OUCH! That hurt my brain!"
Pssst.... Hey... Cog.... Just an observation, but I would guess that pain you feel is not so much from what Sapp said, but more likely from that banana being pushed too far into your ear. Juuuuuuust sayin'.....
Ohhhh! There it is! I have been looking for that banana for a week. You know, when they get black like this it releases hallucinogenic enzymes in the banana pleel an th crolors staaaaaaaaaaaaauy pripty lkj[] [p]po]k]poj;'q;k ehihoikopik anvgfatfingers onnnkeys

" if you teach freethinking, it is not freethinking."
I'm repeating this over and over as I want to object, but can find no rational basis for doing so. All I have are specious semantics substituting teach with words like lead and guide. You have no idea how much this has set off my OCD.
:p perhaps it is just as well I put the qualifier "In its pure form..."
Of course it would be absurd not to teach children anything at all out of concern that it would talk away their agency.
@Sheldon Re: "You have no idea how much this has set off my OCD."
Hey, try sticking one of those blackened bananas in your ear. Seems to work pretty well for Cog.
An atheist high school would simply be a secular high school. In other words it would be indistinguishable from what a high school is actually supposed to be. You would go in, learn your various subjects, and go home.
EXACTLY! And all HS are supposed to be secular in the US today according to the constitution. They are constantly being caught teaching religion and they can lose federal funding for doing this. "Separation of Church and State." I really don't think we can ask for more. Churches can run their after school programs outside the schools and not on school property.
"Churches can run their after school programs outside the schools and not on school property."
Only problem is some churches are running after school programs on the school grounds. And the sorry assed Religious Absolutists in political offices are allowing by rewritting laws. FFRF sometimes catches wind of these and gets them banished, but they are popping up faster than the FFRF can get them all.

Agreed. And it needs to be stopped. Atheists or other non-christian religious individuals report these violations so the Christians can whine and cry "Persecution." It's all BS. Still, If I knew of a religious program in a school that my kids went to (I don't have any) I would certainly cause a fuss. Schools are for education and putting religion in a school is an attempt to elevate it from the realms of myth and fantasy to an actual subject worth studying. IT'S NOT!
On the IQ thing, there is really one it provides for a person: How quickly can they learn something.
Otherwise, IQ does not mean a damned thing.
rmfr
Hmmmm.
Interesting. I have met a whole lot of people good at learning and yet they have no common sense at all. There are "Book Smart" people. I have hired them and worked with them. They are intelligent as anyone you can imagine and yet they can not figure out how to order a cup of coffee without being insulting or figure out the intricate workings of an elevator.
I heard a story once about the difference between "Intelligence / being smart" and "wisdom." If you imagine an elevator ride, the intelligent person moves from the first floor, to the second floor, to the third floor, and progresses steadily forward until he or she reaches the top floor. Once they get to the top floor they are stuck there. They have achieved their dream and there they remain with all the other "intelligent / smart" people. A wise person enters an elevator and makes very similar progress. He or She moves from the first to the second to the third floor and on up to the top. The difference is this. The wise person has the ability to move back down in the elevator. The wise person is comfortable on all the floors and can revisit them at will.
I think it should at least have a requirement that says you think gods are fake, just like religious schools have that catholic or whatever requirement.
@Anonymous Person
I do not know about a requirement, let's not drag ourselves down to the tactic of many major religions now.
But I will fully admit if I am forced to make a snap judgement about someone's critical thinking skills and potential gullibility, the knowledge of whether the person is theist or not does play a fairly large role in my overall snap judgement of a person in those areas. Fortunately such scenarios are rare, and I can take the time to more completely access a person before passing judgement of that person in my mind, and I always try to leave the judgement open ended to further information even if it is contradictory to my initial
"snap" assessment of a person, which I have learned can be at times quite inaccurate.

An atheist walks into a High School and asks for a Bible.
The fact that this is not funny demonstrates the state of the school system today.

Then how would define someone like me who is told they have a "high IQ" after being forcefully subjected to such a useless test, and says, "So what?" and walks out of the room?
@ Everyone
I even remember taking the "Mensa" test because me wife talked me into it. And it took her to "badger" me to death until I took it. Only because she took it and was offered a membership. I caved in and took the fucking useless Mensa test. I was later sent a membership. I just deleted it while saying, "Fuck you."
I could care less what my IQ score is. As previously said, IQ score is ONLY indicative of how easily a person can learn something. Otherwise, it does not mean a damned thing.
Besides, after learning my twin daughters were dyslexic and self-compensated for it so well not one person, including me wife and I, knew they were dyslexic until I found out completely by accident when they were eight years old. After that, I looked at myself as being a complete retard compared to their genius. And when the school system wanted to give their "standard" IQ test in 3rd grade, I said, "Fuck no. Those tests do not mean damned thing." I even kept my daughters home that day just to show my protest.
IQ test do not mean a damned thing. Now the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) when I joined the US Navy does actually tell something about what a person was good at and in what vocational field. That is because that is specifically what the test tested for. It did not test for "IQ," rather it literally tested ONLY for Vocational Aptitude. I was told that I was good in literally everything. Yet, I chose to become Engineering Technician (one of the guys in that nasty engine room).
Now if the public school systems were to adapt the ASVAB as I took, but update for modern technologies, that is something I would approve of. However, this "standard IQ test" they utilize is nothing more than than a test adapted by the Religious Absolutists so they can find those whose minds can be easily manipulated into being viciously indoctrinated into their religion. At least that is what I remember about the IQ test I was forced to take in the 8th grade. Back then, they did these tests in the 4th and 8th grades.
Thus, my opinion on IQ tests is that they are worth less than the paper I use to wipe my ass clean.

Edit: changed a "does" to a "does not"
That's funny, because the ASVAB is possibly the best group intelligence test out there.
If you've read the Bell Curve, the infamous book on intelligence, most of the data upon which it is based is founded on he ASVAB. Same applies to the SAT.
@ No One in particular,
Just a rant I need to get out...
@ John:
I do agree partially with your assessment of the ASVAB. However, the ASVAB is an "aptitude" test. Totally different than those so called "intelligence" tests. The questions in the ASVAB I took were about "vocational" skills instead of "which one best matches the sequence above" bullshit. The two parts of the ASVAB I truly excelled at were the "spatial acuity" and "mathematics" sections. I blew through them in only half the time allowed.
Back to @ No One in particular,
I have taken the SAT. When I got my results, I threw the envelope unopened into the trash. Completely shocked my "home room" teacher. When I was in high school, taking those test were "forced" onto us. And I still think the underlying reason for forcing those tests was because of the "hidden agenda" of the Religious Absolutists who were in charge. One of my teachers was even a "priest" (or whatever they called the ones just below the Pastor) in a church. They controlled the school board, the county commissioners, the lawyers, the mayors, all of them. Everything was under the control of the Religious Absolutists 50+ years ago. That is why I did not like those damned tests being forced onto students. And I shall always be against forcing them onto anybody. It should be the choice of the student, not those damned dictators. However, I think the Religious Absolutists have been losing some control in North Carolina, but they still hold far too much power.
That is why I ain't never given a damn about any test results I took while in the North Carolina public school systems. They were run by the Religious Absolutists. I did what was required, got out, and never looked back. And yes, when my daughters went to school, there was always a fight between my wife and I, and the school system. We always won because the laws had been changed just enough to side with us against the school system. Especially against any form of religious teachings.
All the educational awards I had won, and a couple of the Presidential ones, are still with me mom. I never gave a shit about them. "So the fuck what?" was my feelings towards them. And that is still me feelings towards them. If I had them in my possession, I'd just burn them. The only ones I proudly hang on my walls are the degrees I earned while in the Navy, and the others I earned from university. SECULAR universities.
Yes. I shall agree that acknowledging a child's achievements in education is worthy. However, when it comes from the Religious Absolutists, for me, it is utterly meaningless. Utterly Worthless.
The public education system here in the whole United States is still under too much control of the Religious Absolutists. And that is another reason I feel all religion should be eradicated. Keep it inside your churches, but leave it there. It has no place out in "civilized society" at large.

For me, it's hard to do my home tasks. The most important thing is not to make serious mistakes and plagiarism, then the work will have to be redone. So, in order not to take any risk, I use ghost write essay, where experts write a great essays, and do a literature search on paper, which can save my time.
I believe that online education actually has a huge potential, and there are many great platforms that can help you improve your skills. Personally, I've been working with a tutor from Promova here to improve my English, and I can say that there are many useful articles that are quite helpful in learning a language.
