None of this is new. I have been reading St. Augustine's - "City of God" i.e. over 1,000 pages of - Rome was NOT overrun because they abandoned the old pagan gods to become Christian.
Page after page documenting all the horrible things that happened to the Romans while they were pagan and an exhausting analysis of all the Roman gods, some of which are not mentioned in any other source, and how ineffective and nonsensical they were.

Excuse me now. I feel dirty and have to go take a shower.
Copeland quote “...are you seeing this, hahaha, you bought it...” (reference to his debt free jet)
Yes, yes they did “buy” it... all the shit these fuckers are dishing out
@Cog video that’s disgustingly hard to watch
Whitefire13: The water in the shower is still running. You can be next!
Nice try Cog ... not with you standing around! ;)
Edited to add: on second thought, I don’t get this offer very often...let me get undressed...

Whitefire13: *GASP!* Why? *Look of bewilderment, palms open to the side in mock honesty." What have you heard? Has someone been talking about me?
You win, Cog, you win...”inter-species” here I come :)
Whitefired13: Oo Oo Eee Eee Aaa Aaa! Don't hold onto the shower curtain, I broke it swinging from it last week.
Mommy??? Is that you??
Lol ;)
Thanks Cog - needed that - it’s been a stressful week...and with you being all hairy and stuff, I appreciate you not posting that I don’t shave “down there”. Pure as the driven snow.
Going to have me smoke...

Pssst... hey, Old Man... you can come out of the clothes hamper now... we need to skeedattle before they get back... *slinging camera strap over shoulder*... hope you had a better angle than I did... all i got was Cog's hairy ass filling the frame and moving in strange directions... *slowly opening bathroom door*... *peeking outside*... come on, already... let's get out of here...
@Whitefire
You are awesome, thanks for the laughs :)
@TIN: Who the fuck you calling hairy? Oh Shit! I misread the post. I thought pure as snow meant slick as shit and so I went and did this to myself. I would be a hell of a lot of fun at a Crisco Oil Party.

How convenient they forget that some of the worst plagues humanity has suffered was when christianity ruled. Even when the Spanish flu ripped society to pieces, it was predominantly christian.
How convenient they forget that science has saved a heck of a lot more lives than any pandemic can inflict. Modern medicine, penicillin, a long list.
How convenient they forget that back "in the god old days" the average lifespan was 35.
A virus is a product of our environment...we can measure it, track it and see where it came from and how it mutated and what it becomes. The yearly flu's, are distant cousins of the spanish flu of 1918. Injecting woo woo beliefs into reality, doesn't change reality...give your head a shake...your bizarre irrational belief is not going to change the real world. Take your woo woo irrationality and jam it...in the garbage.
@Thread
I am real curious after all this is mostly over, who gets infected and how.
I would not be surprised that the more religiously devout a group is, the higher the infection rate. While many folks are able to separate reality from the crap they hear in their churches etc in most of their daily lives, I am guessing there still lots of folks out there that think because they have been devout, they will be "magically protected."
A close relative of mine was telling me: she feels a strong sense of "peace and safety" she somehow "knows" that she will be protected by her personal angel. While she still goes out and socializes as much as possible. She wears gloves when she is out, and takes "zinc" pills because her favorite online personality "doc" sold some to her and said scientific studies show it will "help" protect you.
She does not swap out the gloves, and touches her face constantly with said gloves. Right now she is enraged that her very elective surgery procedure got canceled, indefinitely.
I and other family members did manage to convince her to stop hugging almost everyone she meets at least.
@logic
Likely. Woo Woo-ability is a vector of belief, which breeds from ignorance...and ignorance, in the present moment, can kill. So, likely.
Everyone, stay safe.
@Mrs Paul
Augustine Of Hippo had one of the most brilliant minds in the early church. Haven't read him and only a bit of the much later Thomas Aquinas. Augustine's opinions would I think have been common among the church literati of the time and accepted as true implicitly by the common folk.
Context: He died in 430 ce. I suspect his writings would have been one the the things used by Pope Urban 11 to justify the First Crusade especially. (1096-1099)
.
Every time there is a natural disaster, some of the religious loonies come out of the woodwork to say god is punishing us. . Not usually the Catholics. They seem to have far fewer outright loonies to the acre than some of the Protestant churches. (I'd include the Mormons, but I don't consider them a christian church) However, the catholics have their moments.---------
A Greek orthodox priest has told his sheep they cannot contract Coronavirus from the wine of communion---- Then there's that priest in Tennessee who banned Harry Potter Books from his school because the spells are real---------------seems nobody has asked him to prove that allegation.
Of course if it WAS real, kids being kids, there would be a huge outbreak of magic at his school.Not just the kids. I'd like to be able to turn a couple of people I can think of into toads or slugs
@crank-o-rama
I know of some slugs that need turning into humans.
