Dar alIfta in Egypt strikes again after issuing a new religious edict (fatwa) that prohibits online chatting for both men and women, since it is against Islamic dignity.
Most fatwas are now being published online, and this time it was Dar alIfta in Egypt issuing a new fatwa on their online website that prohibits men and women from online chatting, since online chat rooms can “open the door for the devil, corruption and Fitna [disorder and none Islamic acts].”
Dar alIfta is an authority responsible for issuing edicts on Islam.
This is not the first time Muslims have issued such fatwas, since Muslims are known for hating on the internet and the web in general.
This fatwa was issued on the “Frequently Asked Questions” page on Dar alIfta’s official website, which raised questions about how easily this institution can issue fatwas that people must follow.
Since this is Islam, they explained to women why this is bad. They said on the website that a woman should never send her pictures to anyone, because these photos will be used by “deviants” in evil ways and this way the girl will lose her dignity.
Other fatwas also shed the light on how this works. If you enter the ‘Fatwas’ page, you will find questions asked by Muslims who are waiting to be answered, and not all these questions are really what you expect: questions on life and death, for example. Here are some of the questions asked:
- Is it permissible for me to fast during my period?
- Does vomiting invalidate fasting?
- What is the ruling on committing suicide?
