An Italian Archbishop, after observing the growing number of detention centres opening up in Europe, said: “In 10 years we will all be Muslims because of our stupidity. Italy and Europe live in a pagan and atheist way, they make laws that go against God and they have traditions that are proper of paganism. All of this moral and religious decadence favors Islam.”
The Bishop Emeritus of Pompeii added: “We have a weak Christian faith. The Church nowadays does not work well and seminaries are empty. Parishes are the only thing still standing. We need a true Christian life. All this paves the way to Islam. In addition to this, they have children and we do not. We are in full decline.”
An important figure in the Catholic Church said that the growing number of Muslim migrants in Europe and increasing secularism will lead to Islam becoming the continent's foremost religion. From his statements can be concluded that weaker Christian faith leads to a stronger Islam.
On the other hand, he blames atheism and a pagan way of life, not realizing that a secular society — which values reason and evidence over faith and dogma — is a much stronger shield against irrationality.
With a growing number of Eastern Europeans and Romanians migrating to Italy since the expansion of the European Union on one hand, there is a sharp rise in the number of illegal immigrants who dock on its shores after making the dangerous boat ride from North Africa across the Mediterranean Sea on the other hand.
Italy, along with the rest of Europe, has become a hotspot for immigration in the past decade. Figures show that there were 5,014,437 foreign nationals resident in Italy as of January 1, 2015, an increase of 92,352 on the previous year. Considering this fact, Monsignor Carlo Liberati said: “We help without delay those coming from outside and we forget many poor and old Italians who are eating from the trash. We need policies that take care of Italians first: our young people and the unemployed.”
He is also protesting against donating too much money to the recent migrants, saying that it is not only wrong, but morally harmful because ”we encourage their behavior and they get used to that, not mentioning the fact that we already feed them”. Monsignor Liberati seems to think that only Italian people are in the jurisdiction of Italy.
