Evolution Is False Because Science Changes

Ken Ham

Ken Ham (Kenneth Alfred) is living in the United States and is president of Answers in Genesis (AiG), a Creationist apologetics organization that operates the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. On December 9 he went on Twitter “monologue” about how science can be wrong about all theories, such as the theory of evolution, because scientists are constantly changing their minds due to the discovery of new evidence.

Ham advocates Biblical literalism, believing that the Book of Genesis is historical fact and the universe is approximately 6,000 years old, even though scientific evidence shows the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old and the Universe about 13.8 billion years old.

Ken’s tweets represent his stance towards science and world in general and they may seem a little frivolous and ridiculous for a man of his age (he was born on October 20, 1951).

  • “The majority of doctors once didn’t wash their hands after autopsies & before delivering babies – the majority were wrong!”
  • “Because the majority believe something doesn’t mean it’s right. The majority believed the appendix didn’t have a function! They were wrong.”
  • “The majority of scientists believe in molecules to man evolution. The majority are obviously wrong.”
  • ”If you believe in majority rules, there can never be truth. What determined that? What if the majority rules is not always right?”

It’s true that most doctors, at one time, didn’t understand some theories or questioned them, but subsequent research turned those notions on their head. Better science and more information helped us correct our understanding. Implementation science, translational science, healthcare delivery science and knowledge translation are similar in their focus on transforming what is learned from research into common practice to improve care processes and outcomes.

There’s only one acceptable interpretation of the Book of Genesis for Ham, and anyone who deviates from it is turning his back on God. The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. There are problems if anyone tries to understand it literally.

For evolution, as for all other spheres of science, the more scientists have researched it and learned about different species, the stronger the theory has become. There’s a simple reason virtually all scientists accept evolution today: all the evidence confirms it. The theory of evolution is promoting scientific naturalism over theology. Naturalism is the "idea or belief that only natural (as opposed to supernatural or spiritual) laws and forces operate in the world." Arguing that knowledge of evolution and the Big Bang require observation rather than inference, Ham urges asking scientists and science educators, "Were you there?"

What about the next question – Were you there and saw when and how the God created the life on Earth?
