Faith, Fraud & Minimum Wage is based on real-life events that took place in Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. This one of a kind dramedy is filled with quirky characters, soft-spoken humour, a poignant soundtrack and most importantly, whip-smart religious puns.
The film revolves around a teenage atheist named Casey, who has no idea about miracles, until one day, she creates one. Frustrated with the way her life is, she throws a coffee mug at the wall of the café Krowne Donuts, where she happens to work – only to realize that the splash from the coffee mug has created an image that resembles Jesus Christ.
Overnight, Casey becomes the ringmaster of a rapidly growing faith circus – suddenly, the café brings in new customers and 24/7 media begins to hover around her among other things. Her hoax changes everything for everyone including her strict and fundamental boss, her sweet and faithful boyfriend, her doubtful local priest as well as her dad who is haunted by the aftermath of a family tragedy. As her dad starts to let go of everything – his business, mortgage payments and everything else that matters, Casey’s hoax might just serve as the “divine intervention” that he has been looking for. But are the results like what she expected? Watch Faith, Fraud & Minimum Wage to find out!
